There are a number of ways you can help at Mass. Please contact the rectory at firstname.lastname@example.org or 301-942-1020 if you are interested or would like additional information.
Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion
Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion assist the celebrant in the distribution of the Blessed Sacrament at Mass.
Greeters offer a warm greeting, a smile, and a handshake to people as they come and go from the church at Mass. Greeters arrive 20 minutes before the start of Mass and stay 5 minutes after Mass.
The Mass, or Eucharistic Liturgy, is the center of worship in the Catholic faith. During the Liturgy of the Word at Mass, lay persons act as Lectors who read the First and/or Second Readings of the day. They are responsible for practicing to enhance their understanding of each scriptural reading and the quality of their presentation. The Lector may also be asked to read the intentions during the Prayer of the Faithful.
Ushers assist arriving parishioners, pass the collection basket during Mass, and help straighten up the pews between Masses.
