For I was a stranger and you welcomed me. Matthew 25:35
Our Holy Cross Parish Community is invited to a discussion on refugees on Saturday, April 29, from 5:30 pm to 8 pm in Lewis Hall. Pope Francis has many times called Catholics and all people of good will to a “Culture of Encounter”, to meet each other with compassion, interest and love. For example, in May of 2016 he said “Each one of us can be a bridge of encounter between diverse cultures and religions, a way to rediscover our common humanity.” Advancing this culture of encounter is especially urgent in a world where over 65 million people have been forcibly displaced from their homes. During this family-friendly event we will gather in Lewis Hall for a shared meal. Then children (age 4 and up) will have an age appropriate gathering in a classroom at Holy Cross School. Adults will stay in Lewis Hall to engage in dialogue about the current refugee crisis, what the needs are and what we can do to encounter our brothers and sisters and help.
