The Social Concerns Committee Thanks You

The members of the Social Concerns Committee would like to thank the parishioners of Holy Cross Church for their support.

During the past year you assisted with…

Donations to our monthly Food and Clothing Drives in addition to the monthly Poor Box Collections. Through your generosity, we have been able to provide assistance to many families, as well as to various agencies throughout the year with special attention given to distributing baskets at Thanksgiving and Easter.

This year the Committee made over 600 snack bags for needy children in the area. We delivered breakfast foods for area Catholic Charities shelters and the homeless on a weekly basis. We also worked on various seasonal gifting projects. The Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Daisy Scouts, Children’s Liturgy Group, and Confirmation Candidates greatly assisted with these projects.

Every Saturday throughout the year, the Garrett Park Famers Market provided us with leftover produce for distribution to the needy.

Our committee volunteers made well over 200 visits to the sick and elderly of the Parish and countless number of rides to Mass and doctor’s appointments were provided by our parish volunteer drivers.

At Christmas your response to the Giving Tree project was overwhelming with gifts for over 600 individuals and families.

Our Environmental Committee is continually working on ways to preserve and protect the natural resources and gifts of nature that God has blessed us with.

Many parishioners joined with neighboring church members for our annual Christian Unity Service in January and others helped with our Rebuilding Together project in April.

We appreciate your generosity.  Please consider joining us in the fall when we resume our activities. We welcome your support and participation. Have a great summer!
